Hanamaruken Ramen Review

Spread the love

Hanamaruken Ramen is a subsidiary of the Arakawa Pork Company, a reputable supplier of meat in Osaka, Japan. It has over 40 branches in Osaka, Japan and has been in the industry for over 3 decades now.

Situated just several minutes away from my parents’ home in San Juan, Metro Manila, Hanamaruken Ramen is becoming our go-to restaurant when we visit the parentals. It offers great-tasting Japanese food in a fine dining space.

And oh, they offer a FREE bowl of noodles from Monday to Friday, too!

HANAMARUKEN MENU – OUR ORDERS

Hanamaruken Ramen Philippines has a simple menu. Choices are limited so it will not take much effort to choose from the listed items. When we visited, we got the following:

Gyoza, 4 pcs (₱190) – Gyoza is our default order whenever we dine in a Japanese restaurant. Hanamaruken Ramen gyoza is not as best as that of Hakata Ikkousha and Uma Uma Ramen Philippines but still better than most gyozas we’ve tasted. Its filling and wrapper were both good but lacks the crispness. It’s also a bit salty than usual.

Curry Tan Tan Mien (₱390) – this ramen option has thin Hakata-style noodles. Its broth has the right amount of spiciness blended with the right spices and came out to be so flavourful.

Salary Man Ramen (₱300) – a bowl of this ramen choice came with the signature shoyu-tonkotsu based broth. This lightly salted bowl of ramen is topped with thinly sliced pork shoulder.

Drunk Man Rice Bowl (₱320) – if you order this rice meal, you will be served with tasty glazed pork belly cubes and two fried eggs on top of rice. Do not mind the name of this food choice, you can definitely eat and enjoy it whether you are drunk or sober.

We haven’t tried yet, but they say that Hanamaruken Ramen’s specialty is the Signature Happiness Ramen (₱480) which comes topped with a huge chunk of braised pork rib which was cooked to perfection – so tender and tasty. We will make sure order this type of ramen next time we visit.

Hanamaruken Ramen San Juan Branch is the best ramen place we have been to when it comes to space and presentation. It offers a casual dining ambiance. Compared to other ramen joints, theirs is more comfortable and quieter. We appreciate the little privacy our family enjoyed when we dined in there as the tables and chairs are well-spaced out. The restaurant interior was also beautifully designed with elegant Asian fixtures.

HANAMARUKEN SERVICE & STAFF

We love that they have complimentary hot or cold tea.
Servers are attentive and not as noisy as other ramen joints.

LOVE. EAT. WANDER. PLATE OF UNSOLICITED THOUGHTS

We think it would be best to already include Aji-Tamago (₱50) in every ramen bowl instead of offering it as one of the extras. The sweet, salty, and rich umami flavoured egg, when mixed with the ramen broth, has a special effect.
