Nashville
When you think of Tennessee, the capital city of Nashville might come to mind, and for good reason. The city is known as “Music City” and the “Country Music Capital” because of its rich history of country music and its still current focus on country music.
Nashville is home to the famous Grand Ole Opry, as well as the Country Music Hall of Fame. You can also visit the famous Ryman Auditorium in Downtown Nashville and the Johnny Cash Museum in the District. If that isn’t enough, there are also countless venues, including honky-tonks, for taking in some live music in this country music city.
Memphis
If you didn’t get enough music in Nashville, head over to Memphis. Located in southwestern Tennessee on the banks of the Mississippi River, Memphis is known as the “Home of the Blues” and the “Birthplace of Rock and Roll.”
On a visit to Memphis, you can visit so many landmarks that are significant in the history of blues and rock and roll music. You can visit Sun Studio and Elvis Presley’s Graceland. You can also visit the Blues Hall of Fame, the Rock ‘n’ Soul Museum, and the Stax Museum of American Soul Music.
Knoxville
Another incredible city to visit in Tennessee is Knoxville. Knoxville is located in east Tennessee on the Tennessee River. It is known as the “Gateway to the Great Smoky Mountains,” so if you love mountains, Knoxville will get you to them. The city is also known for its great southern food and history.
You can visit the Museum of East Tennessee History or James White’s Fort. If you find that you love the location, food, and history enough, you can plant roots in Knoxville, since there is plenty of Knoxville real estate available.
Chattanooga
If you like the idea of the gateway to the mountains that Knoxville offers, you will also love what Chattanooga offers. Chattanooga is located in southeast Tennessee at the base of the Appalachian Mountains.
In Chattanooga, you can take the Incline Railway up Lookout Mountain for some amazing views. Chattanooga is also known for its variety of outdoor activities.
